Acupuncture is a practice within Traditional Chinese Medicine that involves placing very thin, sterile needles at selected points on the body. Your treatment is tailored to your concerns and health history.
Most people feel little discomfort when the fine needles are inserted. You may notice a brief pinch, tingling, heaviness, or warmth. Please tell Annie if anything feels uncomfortable.
Your first appointment includes a discussion of your health history, current concerns, and treatment goals. Annie will explain a personalized approach and answer questions before treatment begins.
Wear loose, comfortable clothing and have a light meal beforehand. Bring a list of medications and any relevant information you would like to discuss. Please let us know if you are pregnant, take blood thinners, or have other important health concerns.
Acupuncture is performed with sterile, single-use needles that are disposed of after treatment. As with any procedure involving the skin, minor bruising, soreness, or other adverse effects are possible.
Appointment length depends on whether this is your first visit and the treatment planned. Please call or email us for current scheduling details.
The number and frequency of visits depend on your concerns, response to care, and goals. Annie will discuss an individualized plan with you and review progress over time.
Acupuncture may be used as complementary care. Please continue prescribed medical treatment unless your prescribing clinician advises otherwise, and tell us about your medications and ongoing care.
We work with patients who have acupuncture benefits through a variety of medical insurance plans. Coverage, eligibility, visit limits, and provider participation depend on your individual plan. Contact our office to discuss verification before your appointment. Please do not send insurance cards or sensitive medical details by ordinary email.
